Olivia Wilde comes back from the dead in first image from The Lazarus Effect

You have got to hand it to Jason Blum as the guy knows how to make money off the horror genre. When studio films are exploding in budgets, Blum has managed to turn found footage into a goldmine. While the films vary in terms of their quality, we will keep seeing them as long as they continue to turn a profit. The latest film from Blum will be THE LAZARUS EFFECT which has one heck of a cast.

Featuring Evan Peters, Olivia Wilde, Mark Duplass, and Donald Glover, THE LAZARUS EFFECT will sound familiar to fans of the 1990 favorite FLATLINERS.

When a team of research students mapping the human brain accidentally kills one of their own, they unwittingly unlock a deadly force by reanimating their colleague. Fighting for their own lives, the team must contain their colleague in the lab before she is unleashed on the world.

With a pretty impressive cast, THE LAZARUS EFFECT looks like it could be a creepy winner during the bleak movie release month of February. In fact, the movie comes from an unexpected place as the director is David Gelb. Gelb is best known for the acclaimed documentary JIRO DREAMS OF SUSHI. Hopefully we get a trailer soon.

THE LAZARUS EFFECT opens in theaters on February 27, 2015.
