Actress Olivia Wilde, who was recently seen in the revenge thriller A VIGILANTE (pictured above; you can pick up a copy HERE) and made her feature directorial debut with the comedy BOOKSMART (pre-order HERE), has signed on to direct the psychological thriller DON'T WORRY, DARLING, and studios, production companies, and streaming services are clamoring to get involved. According to Deadline, there are currently eighteen different buyers seeking to be the one who can provide DON'T WORRY, DARLING with a budget in the $20 million range and a wide release.

Described as "a psychological thriller for the Times Up era", DON'T WORRY, DARLING is about

a 1950s housewife whose reality begins to crack, revealing a disturbing truth underneath.

The screenplay was written by the sibling duo of Shane and Carey Van Dyke, whose previous credits include CHERNOBYL DIARIES, THE SILENCE, and the THEY COME KNOCKING entry in the Hulu / Blumhouse series Into the Dark. Wilde's producing partner Katie Silberman, who co-wrote BOOKSMART with three other writers, will be doing a rewrite on the DON'T WORRY, DARLING script.

Wilde and Silberman will be producing DON'T WORRY, DARLING with Vertigo Entertainment's Roy Lee and Miri Yoon.

With so many companies wanting to be involved with this project, it will be interesting to see who comes out the winner of this auction. Among those in the running are Netflix, Legendary, 101 Studios, FilmNation, MGM, Village Roadshow Pictures, Apple, and Blumhouse.
