One Missed Call pics!

Here’s a few peeks at ONE MISSED CALL, a remake (my fav word) of what is probably the only remakeable Takashi Miike movie. It’s about a group of kids who begin receiving mysterious phone calls from their future selves who are apparently moments away from their deaths. It stars professional tool Edward Burns, the cute-as-a-button Shannyn Sossamon, and Margaret Cho, of all people.

The original flick (read Arrow’s review here) is, for the most part, very average for the genre – and especially tame for the usually no-holds-barred Miike. There is, however, a fantastic section about halfway through: a morbid t.v. show, having heard about this bizarre string of deaths, hijacks one of the lead characters and puts her on air – live – while she awaits her fate (complete with a countdown and an enthusiastic host). It’s a welcome bit of Miike’s gallows humor in an otherwise ordinary J-horror film. I’m hoping it’s kept in the remake, but for some reason I highly doubt it.
