The Warner Bros. remake of ONE MISSED CALL has just opened the doors to its Official Site where you’ll have to endlessly listen to an annoying, supposedly creepy ringtone that appears to be the film’s hook (as if the kids are going to say “Let’s see that movie with the awesome ringtone!”). Also prominent is that weird three-mouthed freak from the film’s poster, who is certainly more charming than the film’s dull lead, Edward Burns.
Directed by Eric Valette and starring Burns, Shannyn Sossamon, and Ray Wise, ONE MISSED CALL tells the story of several people who start receiving voice-mails from their future selves — messages which include the date, time, and some of the details of their deaths. The original was directed by the madman Takashi Miike, and this movie will obviously in no way approach the level of style he brought to the standard J-horror tale. Also guessing the remake didn’t keep the wacky 2nd act “reality show” sequence that made the original so distinctive.
