Paddy Considine (right) may not be a household name as of yet, but the dude’s one hell of an actor. You may have seen him as a struggling Irish immigrant in Jim Sheridan’s IN AMERICA, or one of the wise cracking chaps mixin’ it up with Simon Pegg in HOTT FUZZ. Regardless of what you may or may not have seen him in, it doesn’t change the fact that Considine is moving behind the camera to adapt his 2007 BAFTA winning short DOG ALTOGETHER into a feature length film called TYRANNOSAUR. And we’ve got a plot-crunch for your ass below!
Written by Considine as well, TYRANNOSAUR is the story of Joseph (Peter Mullan), a man who is plagued by a violence and rage that is driving him to self destruction. As he falls further into turmoil Joseph scours the landscape in search of a single grain of redemption that might restore hope to his fractured life. A chance of redemption appears in the form of Hannah (Olivia Colman), a Christian charity shop worker. Their relationship develops to reveal that Hannah is hiding a secret of her own with devastating consequences for both of them.
Two things here. First, a man plagued by rage and violence coming to a head with a Christian charity shop worker? Oh man, that’s good. Then consider the man to be played by Irish actor Peter Mullan (Gordon from SESSION 9), and BIGGITY-BAM…a harrowing thriller is born!
If Considine shows as much aplomb behind the camera as he does in front of it, this could be a heullva flick to keep track of.
