Paramount in negotiations for next Terminator film

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

We've all been patiently waiting for news regarding the next TERMINATOR film and now it seems that the fifth entry in the popular franchise may have found itself a new home as The Wrap is reporting that Skydance and Annapurna Productions are in early negotiations with Paramount to distribute the next entry in the blockbuster franchise.

Skydance Productions and Annapurna Pictures have already set Laeta Kalogridis (AVATAR, SHUTTER ISLAND) and Patrick Lussier (MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D, DRIVE ANGRY) to script the next installment of the franchise and we've all heard the rumblings that Arnold Schwarzenegger will be back in some capacity. Megan Ellison paid more than $20 million in 2011 to acquire the rights for a new TERMINATOR film. However, she must make a film by 2019 before the rights revert back to the creator of the franchise, James Cameron.

Could this mean a new entry in the TERMINATOR franchise may be coming quicker than we expected? We'll keep you posted as we hear it!
