Parasomnia talk

PARASOMNIA: A disorder that frequently intrudes on sleep, occurring especially among children and including sleepwalking, night terrors, and bed-wetting.

I figured I’d start this article off with a definition because let’s face it, that title is one tough word! After learning its definition, though, I also feel that it is IDEAL ground for a horror flick! And aren’t we lucky that director, William Malone (HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL), feels the same way! A couple months back, Jared gave us all a look at this latest flick’s creepy trailer here. Now we have some descriptive news from Malone himself as he is currently applying the finishing touches to the psychological thriller.

“PARASOMNIA is a very different kind of film for me,” he says, “I can’t really explain why, but when you see it, you’ll understand. In many ways, it’s a modern dark fairy tale. Everything in it is slightly skewed from reality—in some cases, a lot more than slightly. Nearly all the characters are ‘off’ in one way or another, which makes for a lot of fun. It’s a story of nightmarish vistas and dark dreams. Those familiar with my work will see recognizable elements, but I believe the audience is going to be in for a surprise and a wild ride. It’s very creepy and dark. Not to mention that it’s got Jeffrey Combs (RE-ANIMATOR) and Patrick Kilpatrick (THE TOXIC AVENGER) in it—how great is that? I only hope that I can give moviegoers the same sense of wonder that the films I saw as a kid gave to me.”

I hope so too. The plot is really loaded with potential: A young woman suffers from the titular condition that causes her to be asleep for most of her life due to a childhood accident. She becomes the obsession of a mesmerist who shared hospital space with her. The mesmerist now plans to invade her dreams to take control of her, but an art student who has fallen in love with her may be able to save her before it’s too late. Cherilyn Wilson plays the “beauty” and Dylan Purcell plays the student. I’ll keep my eyes wide open for a release date.

Would you mind falling asleep with these beauties?
