I'm just going to get this out of the way; the only thing that interests me about this project is Paula Patton. She's stunningly beautiful, a great actress, and has tremendous presence. Since first seeing her in Tony Scott's DEJA VU and then again in MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL she has quickly become one of my favorite actresses working today. So, it makes sense that she'd try her hand in the romantic comedy genre, which is exactly what BAGGAGE CLAIM is. The story is standard formula, with a woman (Patton) attempting to find love by revisiting a bunch of her past flames, a plot most recently used in the Anna Faris/Chris Evans romcom, WHAT'S YOUR NUMBER?

In all fairness, BAGGAGE CLAIM will likely be no more offensive or silly than any of the others out on the market, so it's ultimately up to Patton and her co-stars to elevate it beyond a passing view on HBO in a few years. Patton is joined by Taye Diggs, Derek Luke, Djimon Hounsou, Christina Millian, Trey Songz, Boris Kodjoe, and Adam Brody as the "gay best friend."

Claim your baggage:

Here's the synopsis:

Pledging to keep herself from being the oldest and the only woman in her entire family never to wed, Montana embarks on a thirty-day, thirty-thousand-mile expedition to charm a potential suitor into becoming her fiancé.

BAGGAGE CLAIM takes flight on September 27, 2013.
