Pet Sematary prequel, Paranormal Activity sequel set for Paramount Plus

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Paramount Pictures made a major presentation to their investors yesterday, letting them know some of the plans for their streaming service Paramount Plus – and among the news that came out of that presentation is that the previously announced Paranormal Activity sequel that's coming to us from director Will Eubank and the franchise's regular screenwriter Christopher Landon will be making its debut on the streaming service! More surprising is the news that Paramount Players, Paramount's genre label, is developing a Pet Sematary prequel that is also going straight to Paramount Plus.

Paramount Plus will make its debut in March.

Details on the plot of the new Paranormal Activity are being kept under wraps, but it's described as an "unexpected retooling" of the franchise. Landon has told fans to "expect the unexpected", and that "no one could possibly guess what new, crazy nightmares" will be featured in this sequel. Landon will serve as executive producer alongside Steven Schneider. Franchise creator Oren Peli and Blumhouse's Jason Blum are producing.

Pet Sematary remake (watch it HERE) writer Jeff Buhler has written the screenplay for the Pet Sematary prequel,

an origins story to the Stephen King yarn about the dangers of bringing back your dogs, cats and other furry friends from the great beyond.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura will be producing the film.

Paramount did not announce when these movies will be available to watch on Paramount Plus. It's likely to be a little while, as far as we know neither one has started filming just yet.
