Peter Dinklage stars as Herve Villechaize in HBO’s My Dinner With Herve

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

So a new biopic about FANTASY ISLAND's Herve Villechaize called MY DINNER WITH HERVE – starring GAME OF THRONES Peter Dinklage – is on its way to HBO. And, luckily, it won't be your standard "cradle-to-the-grave" biopic, and instead will be set during a single night. Here's the official synopsis, according to Deadline:

My Dinner With Hervé centers on an unlikely friendship that evolves over one wild night in LA between a struggling journalist (Jamie Dornan) and actor Hervé Villechaize (Peter Dinklage), the world’s most famous gun-toting dwarf, resulting in life-changing consequences for both.

And here's our first look at Dinklage as the eponymous Herve:

Now, I love me some Peter Dinklage, and I imagine he's going to be great in this. But I'm also personally conflicted, because no matter how great his performance, it's still a pretty blatant case of white-washing. And while I understand it's hard to find the right actor in the best of circumstances – and that the pool is much limited by having to cast a little person – I am also willing to bet the studio didn't even attempt to look.

Either way, while certainly problematic, I'm still curious nonetheless. But what do you Schmoes think? Sound off below!

Meanwhile, MY DINNER WITH HERVE will premiere on HBO later this year.
