One horror icon we don’t see nearly enough of is Doug Bradley aka Pinhead from the HELLRAISER series. Probably because we haven’t seen a remake of his beloved portrayal of Pinhead yet, and I stress yet.
Dread Central recently caught up with Bradley to shoot the breeze about HELLRAISER and also happened to hit up the touchy little subject of Hollywood and its obsession with remakes, and what Bradley had to say might surprise you. Check it out: If studios started to realize that there are still great original stories out there and that fans will show up to theaters for those films, too, then maybe this whole remakes phase would start to dwindle. I guess, from a fan’s perspective, I just wish more horror movies would be made by people who actually love the genre and want to give the fans something new,
Spoken like a true patriot of the genre. Gotta f*ckin’ respect that shite! It’s always nice to hear when big names in horror feel the same about remakes as the fans do–and not just because one of their movies is getting remade. Maybe he should think about putting on his Pinhead attire and visiting studio hot shots, telling them to stop remaking movies and give the fans something new, or else he’ll rip their flesh off and send them straight to hell for eternity. Then again, that might not go over too well….
