Poe’s Lighthouse story

It’s arguable that Edgar Allan Poe is one of the best best horror writers of all time, which makes it no surprise that the fictionalized retelling of the man’s death is now being made into a movie.

THE LIGHTHOUSE AT THE END OF THE WORLD, a novel written by Stephen Marlowe, tell’s the story of what happened to Poe during the last week of his life- he went missing only to be found dying in a gutter, and no one knows why.

The story goes into what might have happened, with hallucinatory storytelling strategies in place. David “I might be f*ckin’ crazy but I’m still cool” Lynch is executive producing this tale along with Jonathan Sanger (who also produced ELEPHANT MAN), and written by Merritt Johnson.

With these crazy minds at work, I’m sure we’ll all be in for a real treat. But who to play Poe? I’d say Johnny Depp, but that feels a little like typecasting at this point. Maybe Orlando Bloom? Er… maybe not…
