Just a couple of weeks ago, Mr. Ammon gave you all a look at the very cool and bloody new poster for the Canadian flick, PONTYPOOL. We’ve been talking about this one since way back in August and my interest in it has only grown larger. Now, I’m happy to state that the flick’s official trailer has found a home in our videos section. You need only give a good clickity-click on the link below to get your PONTY on.
My thoughts on the trailer? Well, let’s just say that I am once again looking forward to PONTYPOOL even more. This is one nicely set-up tense ride that really makes me curious what will go down once the proverbial shit hits the fan. I’m also a big fan of the flick’s concept of setting the story within the confines of a radio station. Take a gander at the plot for the full details:
At a radio station in Pontypool one day, the morning team starts taking reports of extreme, bloody incidents of violence occurring in town. As the story unfolds, the radio staff soon realizes the violence that is ripping society apart is due to a virus being spread through the English language. That in turn poses a problem for a yappy radio jock and his staff holed up in the broadcast booth housed in the basement of the town’s abandoned church as a slaughter rages beyond its walls.
PONTYPOOL was directed by Bruce McDonald and Tony Burgess. It stars Stephen McHattie, Lisa Houle, and Georgina Reilly and will be releasing in the U.S. on May 29. 2009.
