Predator (1987) vs Alien (1979): Face-Off

The Predator and the Alien. Two of the most fearsome creatures across the entire universe. In 1979, Ridley Scott’s sci-fi horror classic, ALIEN, introduced audiences to the titular monster (affectionately referred to as a Xenomorph), forever creating a body-horror nightmare and causing even the bravest viewer to wince once those giant eggs pop open. Almost a decade later, John McTiernan’s 1987 sci-fi action thriller, PREDATOR, gave audiences a new, technologically-advanced apex predator that hunts humans for sport. These brilliant films birthed massive franchises that are still ongoing to this day, and it was only a matter of time before these two deadly fiends crossed paths.

While Dark Horse comics began imagining what would happen when the Predators and the Xenomorphs came across each other, it wasn’t until a little film called PREDATOR 2 that the conversation about them sharing the big screen together really took off. There’s a scene in the film where Danny Glover enters the Predator’s ship and spots a wall of trophies of its kills on other worlds. One of the large skulls is the very recognizable shape of a Xenomorph head. Fans absolutely lost it. Were we finally going to see it? Alien versus Predator?! Well, we did but it took another fourteen years before that film was released. The results were less than stellar, but for our purposes, let’s break down who would really win in a fight to the death if the two did battle here on… FACE OFF!

This episode of Face Off is written by Bryan Wolford, narrated by Shawn Knippelberg, and edited by Jay Saint G. Watch previous episodes below and let us know in the comments which sci-fi monster you prefer – the Predator or the Alien!
