Prey: Jesse Ventura praises the Predator prequel

I think it’s safe to say that Hulu’s Predator prequel, Prey, is a big win for the franchise. After years of mostly disappointing follow-ups, people are finally excited about the franchise again. Among them is Jesse “The Body” Ventura, who famously co-starred in the original Predator, playing everyone’s favourite “g*d damned sexual Tyrannosaurus” Blaine! It turns out Ventura was among those who caught the film this weekend, and he was super impressed, calling it a “great, great film” on Twitter and singling out star Amber Midthunder, writing, “you ain’t got time to bleed.” Here’s the tweet:

Midthunder was obviously psyched, retweeting the praise, adding “GUYS,” while director Dan Trachtenberg wrote back saying, “I’m on the floor. Thank you sir! Thanks for watching and so glad you appreciated what we did!!”

It’s actually pretty cool that Ventura, the often controversial former governor of Minnesota, took the time to praise the film, with it coming off a bit like a passing of the torch. Hopefully, Arnold Schwarzenegger will give the movie a look, as I’m sure praise from Dutch himself would go a long way.

In addition to Predator, Ventura famously co-starred as Captain Freedom opposite Arnold in The Running Man and was the lead in a cool cult sci-fi flick called Abraxas, Guardian of the Universe. He was also a famed wrestler for the WWE but is mainly known nowadays for his political career.

Meanwhile, Prey has been quietly becoming quite a hit for Hulu, with the social reaction to the film so good many are wondering why 20th Century Studios (owned by Disney) didn’t bump this up to the theatrical release, especially considering how dire the marketplace is going to be over the next few months.

Have you watched Prey, and if so, what did you think? Let us know in the comments!
