Wow, this whole PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES craze seems to be growing way more than I could have imagined. First, we got word of the novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, then came news of a movie adaptation. Now, get this, there is a rumor circulating around that Natalie Portman may be attached to the project! Yeah, right, are you kidding me? I’m just not sure how a star of her caliber would want to be associated with this flick. I wouldn’t mind it, of course. It just sounds surprising.
The news came forth from Production Weekly, however the folks at STYD checked up on it and got this response which labeled the info as “Premature. No offers or handshakes of any kind yet – other people circling.” Now they didn’t specifically deny Portman’s involvement, but they also didn’t confirm it. I guess we’ll just be playing the typical “wait-and-see” game with this one. However, with the amount of hype being heaped on to PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES, I suppose Portman can still be considered “in the mix”. Take a look at the novel’s amazing plot:
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies features the original text of Jane Austen’s beloved novel with all-new scenes of bone-crunching zombie action. As our story opens, a mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Meryton—and the dead are returning to life! Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is determined to wipe out the zombie menace, but she’s soon distracted by the arrival of the haughty and arrogant Mr. Darcy. What ensues is a delightful comedy of manners with plenty of civilized sparring between the two young lovers—and even more violent sparring on the blood-soaked battlefield as Elizabeth wages war against hordes of flesh-eating undead.
