Priest gets rated by the MPAA; what’s the verdict?

The wise lords at the Temple of Movie Ratings have woken from their blood of the innocent-induced slumber to lavish another movie with a rating, chosen from the sacred MPAA slab secreted away in the catacombs of their centuries old holy place. (But seriously, they’re great.)

This time it’s Scott Stewart’s PRIEST that has been bestowed with a rating. To my surprise, the film has received a PG-13. It looked like an R all the way to me, but I guess the fact that it’s coming out at the very beginning of the summer movie-going season compelled Sony to go easy on the bloodletting. Or maybe it was just never that nasty to begin with.

In any event, the film has earned its PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, disturbing images and brief strong language.

Sounds like a good time to me. Take a peek at the trailer below and let us know if it’s something you’ll be checking out when it’s released on MAY 13th.
