One film that can’t quite seem to decide on a release date is the upcoming preacher running around killing vampires movie PRIEST, starring Paul Bettany, Cam Gigandet, Stephen Moyer, Karl Urban, Christopher Plummer, and Maggie Q (pictured below).
When it was first announced, PRIEST had an August 13, 2010, release date, which would make sense for a horror flick to take a Friday the 13th spot. That is, unless it’s going up against FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2, then it’s just a bad idea. So the date was then pushed back to October 1, 2010, a perfect spot to snag all those seeking horror fun in time for Halloween. It worked for ZOMBIELAND, right?
If only they could leave well enough alone. More PRIEST release date shuffling is going on once again, this time going back to August… August 27, 2010 to be exact! Two weeks after FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2 and one week after THE EXPENDABLES. Smart move or suicide? If PRIEST can hold it’s own against those two juggernauts, color me surprised! But if you asked me (which you’re not), I’d stick with the October release and capitalize on the whole vampire angle.
Pencil in the new release date for PRIEST now, but be warned… I have a feeling August 27, 2010, won’t be its final resting place.
