Mick Garris, not typically known for wrangling top-flight acting talent, is assembling a hell of a cast for AMC’s “Bag Of Bones” miniseries. Last week came the news the lovely Melissa George had been added to the cast, which also includes Pierce Brosnan and Annabeth Gish. Well folks, here’s another fine actor ready to jump into the bag…
Variety has it that Anika Noni Rose (THE PRINCESS & THE FROG, pictured) has just joined the cast of “Bag of Bones.” Word is Rose will play Sara Tidwell, a blues singer who haunts a bestselling novelist (Pierce Brosnan) embroiled in a bitter custody battle.
Now, I’m on record as not just liking, but loving this hire. For anyone who wants to see what a tremendous actress Noni Rose is, seek out the HBO series “The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency.” My girl straight stole the show!
Set to air as a two-night, two-hour event, “Bag of Bones” centers on ‘Mike Noonan’ (Brosnan), a man who is unable to stop grieving for his wife (Gish), who died suddenly. After returning to the lakeside retreat they shared, he inadvertently gets involved in a local custody battle with an attractive young widow (George) – while having nightmares about his dead wife.
Keep it here for a premiere date.
