Prisoners of the Ghostland screenwriters Aaron Hendry and Reza Sixo Safai receive story credit on the comic, with Christopher Reda and Mason Mendoza handling the adaptation and editing. Alonso Molina Gonzales provided the art, with Paulo Rivas bringing the colors and Travis Lanham handling the letters. The book was published by Michael Mendelsohn.

Featuring Nicolas Cage and Nick Cassavetes, two notorious outlaws execute an elaborate bank heist in a small town stylized with western bikers, guns, and attitudes, mixed with eastern kitsune masks, samurai swords, and traditions. But, when his accomplice goes full-on psychotic, Cage must decide whether he wants to escape or have innocent blood on his hands.
Reda and Mendoza’s comic adaptation sets the stage for Patriot Pictures upcoming film Prisoners of the Ghostland.
The film was directed by Sion Sono and is set
in the treacherous frontier city of Samurai Town, where a ruthless bank robber (Cage) is sprung from jail by wealthy warlord The Governor (Bill Moseley), whose adopted granddaughter Bernice (Sofia Boutella) has gone missing. The Governor offers the prisoner his freedom in exchange for retrieving the runaway. Strapped into a leather suit that will self-destruct within three days, the bandit sets off on a journey to find the young woman — and his own path to redemption.
Bernice has “disappeared into a dark supernatural universe”, and Sono has said that “There are samurais, there are ninjas, and ghosts are part of the story as well.”
Cage, Cassavetes, Moseley, and Boutella are joined in the cast by Tak Sakaguchi and Yuzuka Nakaya.
