Now my gut is telling me this project I’m about to tell you all about is going to… well… suck. But alas it’s my sworn duty as an Arrow in the Head news editor to bring you all the latest news in our beloved genre so here I am to tell you all about a new thriller coming our way from Intrepid called CRUSH. No it’s not a movie about people getting crushed… we’re not that lucky.
Instead The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog is reporting that CRUSH is about a harmless crush gone horribly, horribly wrong. Not like we haven’t seen that one before, right? And get this – it seems Sonny Mallhi is penning the script for this one, the same name that brought us that ROOMMATE flick that the gorgeous Leighton Meester (below) couldn’t even save. Hey at least Mallhi won’t have to stretch his talents far for this one.
Mind you Mallhi was also one of the names that brought us the awesomely sublte terror flick THE STRANGERS. He’ll also be producing the upcoming Jennifer Lawrence starring flick THE HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET. Along with Mallhi, Trevor Macy and Marc D. Evans are also stepping in as producers on CRUSH. I bet you want the rundown on this one already, don’t you? Yeah you do. Check it:
Described as being a cross between Cruel Intentions and Misery, the story centers on a star high school athlete who becomes the focus of an admirer’s obsession. He soon discovers the innocent crush has turned dangerous and deadly.
Sounds exactly as generic as I had figured, what a surprise. Malik Bader has already been tapped to direct this one with a start date pegged for October 17 in Los Angeles. Casting is underway as we speak.
