Production has officially begun on Dwayne Johnson’s Netflix film Red Notice

At this point I've just come to the conclusion that Dwayne Johnson is the human embodiment of the "unstoppable force." The guy just never stops working. Last year he released three films including FIGHTING WITH MY FAMILY, HOBBS AND SHAW, and JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL. He also wrapped up the final season of HBO's Ballers and hosted an endurance competition called The Titan Games. He's also got Disney's JUNGLE CRUISE due out later this year and just last week JoBlo reported that NBC is developing a sitcom called Young Rock based on Johnson's misspent youth. Johnson has also begun training for BLACK ADAM, scheduled to begin production later this year. If he ever meets an immovable object I honestly believe there will be a rip in the space-time continuum.

Well the Dwayne Johnson train isn't stopping anytime soon and now the actor just added a new first to his resume. Production has officially begun on RED NOTICE, Johnson's first ever Netflix film. The movie originally landed at Universal, however the studio passed when the budget began to grow too high. News of RED NOTICE's production start came courtesy of Dwayne Johnson's Instagram account:

While very little is known about the project other than it is a "globe trotting action heist thriller," you'll notice that Johnson's Instagram account did tease a little bit of the plot. According to Johnson, "In the world of international crime, an Interpol issued RED NOTICE is a global alert to hunt down and capture the world’s most wanted. The world’s greatest art thief. The world’s greatest tracker. The world’s greatest conman." Oooooo. Sounds intriguing. I may be way off but I'm getting an old-school Michael Bay feel here.

Joining Dwayne Johnson in the film will be WONDER WOMAN actress Gal Gadot and everyone's favorite Merc with the Mouth, DEADPOOL's own Ryan Reynolds. Helming the action pic will be director Rawson Marshall Thurber. Thurber broke into the industry with 2004 cult classic DODGEBALL: A TRUE UNDERDOG STORY. RED NOTICE reunites Thurber and Johnson for the third time. Thurber previously directed Johnson in CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE and SKYSCRAPER.

RED NOTICE is set to hit Netflix sometime in 2021.
