Production on Bond 25 reportedly suspended after Daniel Craig injured on set

Just when the production on BOND 25 was finally going so well it has hit yet another bump in the road. After shooting was officially underway and driving as smoothly as an Astin Martin, reports have surfaced that production has been suspended after star Daniel Craig injured his ankle during a stunt shoot in Jamaica.

According to the British newspaper The Sun (via Variety), Craig injured his ankle while sprinting during a scene, and was then flown back to the U.S for X-rays, putting a pause on production. The report cites an unnamed source, who recounted the on-set incident.

“He was sprinting during filming when he slipped and fell quite awkwardly,” the source reportedly said. “He was in quite a lot of pain and was complaining about his ankle.”

There’s no word on how long production will be suspended in the wake of the injury, but production was set to move to the famous Pinewood Studios at the end of the week, but word is that has been canceled.

Last month the cast member got together for a mini unveiling of some BOND 25 details, and though some people expected a title reveal, it was simply a cast confirmation, which included naming Rami Malek the villain of the movie. Along with Craig and Malek, the cast includes Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Léa Seydoux, Ben Whishaw, Jeffrey Wright and Ana de Armas. After going through a few directors, the gig was given to Cary Fukunaga (MANIAC, TRUE DETECTIVE).

The movie is set for April 8, 2020, but only time will tell if the injury stops the movie from making the release. A similar incident happened on the set of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT, wherein Tom Cruise famously injured his ankle doing a stunt. That movie still made its original release slot, so if all goes well BOND 25 will be able to do the same, and hopefully, Craig makes a speedy and full recovery.

BOND 25 is set for April 8, 2020.
