For those of you who didn’t already purchase it on Digital HD, PROMETHEUS will be hitting stores in physical format on October 9th in both standard and extended versions.

PROMETHEUS will be released as a 2 disc combo pack and a 4 disc Collector’s Edition. According to the press release, it will be loaded with over seven hours of bonus material, the PROMETHEUS 4-Disc Collector’s Edition and 2-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack feature the original theatrical release and are available in premium packaging. Fans can get the ultimate Prometheus experience with an Alternate Opening and Ending, Deleted and Alternate Scenes, access to “Peter Weyland’s Files,” commentary by directors and writers, a cutting-edge Prometheus Weyland Corp. Archive Second Screen App and more!

So, while it may not be the director’s cut we were all hoping for, there will be the option to view the film’s extended opening and ending sequences we have been hearing about. I miss the old days where we used to get branching DVDs. The first X-MEN movie had that as a special feature where you could see the deleted scenes and pre-visualized sequences added back into the movie. It gave the function of a director’s cut without re-editing the entire film. Watching an alternate opening and ending by themselves certainly is cool, but integrating it back into the movie is awesome.

Are you excited for PROMETHEUS on Blu-ray?
