Proyas impaled

It’s gotta be a tough thing trying to revamp the DRACULA/VAMPIRE story, after all we all have seen so many different attempts at the source material. But it appears that I, ROBOT director Alex Proyas is up to the challenge, as he is set to direct the film DRACULA YEAR ZERO. It appears the film will follow the tales of Vlad the Impaler. In case you didn’t know, Vlad the Impaler was the Romanian Royal who inspired the classic Bram Stoker blood-sucking novel.

And by the sounds of things Proyas is excited about the project, because after reading the script written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless the director proclaimed the story was a “fresh take on the legend.”

And Proyas wasn’t done talking yet, as he also had this to say about the way Vlad will be portrayed, “[He] sells his soul to the Devil to save his kingdom and family.” Okay, I can dig that. I just hope this isn’t hindered by a super small budget like other similar projects.

The reason I love Vampire movies…
