Psycho Crush

Oh, I’m gonna try and have some fun with this one. It seems here we’ve got another entry into the “crazed, sexy, psycho female thriller” genre. You know, I’m talking about the likes of BASIC INSTINCT, THE CRUSH, SWIMFAN, etc. This Australian flick is called, originally enough, CRUSH and Impawards just scored its first poster. And if you take a gander at it above, you may find it strangely familiar to the one for the Sharon-Stone-coochie-flashing extravaganza (below). I do like the bit of blood trickling down the dude’s arm as well as the hung-up bra in the distance. Now, onto the wackiness that entails CRUSH’s plot:

Julian, 20, an American exchange student and disgraced Tae Kwon Do champion is seduced by a mysterious and beautiful woman, Anna, 19, whilst house-sitting a lavish mansion in Perth, Australia. Anna’s infatuation and obsessive behavior soon turns Julian’s life into a living hell where not even his martial arts skills can save him.

Did I catch that right? A disgraced Tae Kwon Do champion?! Shit, I almost laughed myself right out of my chair! What a concept! I love it! And not even his martial arts skills can save him now! Just awesome! I now HAVE TO see this flick! How long do I have to wait? I’ll swim to Australia if I have to!

Well, CRUSH is currently in post-production, but there’s no set release date yet. It was directed by Jeffrey Gerritsen and John V. Soto (who also wrote the script), and stars Christopher Egan as “Tae Kwon Doe” Julian and Emma Lung as “Infatuated” Anna. Cheers!
