Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Fans of cult favorite SLC PUNK have been anxiously awaiting this news: the sequel finally has a release date. It was announced that the roll-out of PUNK'S DEAD: SLC PUNK 2 will begin in theaters followed by VOD and DVD in February 2016. Almost one year ago, we saw the full trailer for James Merendino's sequel which has been teased for almost two years. After a crowd-funding campaign that reunited many of the stars of the original film, the movie has now worked out a release strategy with Tugg and Cinedigm.

James Merendino had this to say about PUNK'S DEAD: SLC PUNK 2 finally seeing release. The film will arrive in theaters in limited release on February 12th, on Digital HD February 16th and on DVD/VOD on March 18th from Cinedigm.

“This is a movie made for the fans,” said Merendino. “It was through their funding the film was able to be completed, and now, with the help of Cinedigm, the story can continue.” He goes on to say “I am still a kid at heart which makes Punk’s Dead fresh, innovative and culturally relevant to a young audience. However I feel that I have grown up since SLC Punk!, so I approached the characters and story of Punk’s Dead with more maturity and honesty.”

PUNK'S DEAD: SLC PUNK 2 follows the son of Heroin Bob as he embarks on his own roadtrip through Utah on his way to a punk rock concert while experiencing all sorts of drug-onduced misadventures. Whether the film will live up to the cult status of the original remains to be seen, but we will finally be able to judge for ourselves in just a couple of months. The film stars Ben Schnetzer, Hannah Marks, Colson “MGK” Baker, Sarah Clarke And Devon Sawa.
