Ragdoll trailer: Lucy Hale stars in AMC+ serial killer series

A trailer has arrived online for the serial killer thriller series Ragdoll, which is set to make its premiere on the AMC+ streaming service on November 11th. Coming to us from the producers of Killing Eve at Sid Gentle Films, Ragdoll is based on the novel of the same name by Daniel Cole (pick up a copy HERE) and stars Lucy Hale (Pretty Little Liars) as a character involved in the investigation of a series of murders where pieces of the victims are sewn together, Frankenstein’s Monster style. With a set-up like that, Ragdoll sounds like a must-see to me.

Hale is joined in the cast by Henry Lloyd-Hughes (Killing Eve), Thalissa Teixeira (The Musketeers), and Ali Cook (Mr. Selfridge). Here’s the official synopsis:

Six people have been murdered, dismembered and sewn into the shape of one grotesque body suspended from the ceiling in a block of London flats –– nicknamed the ‘Ragdoll.’ Assigned to the shocking case are newly reinstated DS Nathan Rose (Lloyd-Hughes); his best friend and boss, DI Emily Baxter (Teixeira); and the unit’s new recruit, DC Lake Edmunds (Hale). The ‘Ragdoll Killer’ taunts the police by sending them a list of his next victims, with Rose’s name among them. And with those victims to protect, our heroes soon come under intense public scrutiny. A gruesomely imaginative serial killer thriller, Ragdoll captures the fascinating but flawed friends struggling with the consequences of institutionalization and trauma.

Freddy Syborn served as head writer on the adaptation and executive produced alongside Sally Woodward Gentle, Lee Morris, Dan McDermott, Kristin Jones, and Philippa Collie Cousins. Lizzie Rusbridger is the producer on the show.

Episodes of Ragdoll will be released on AMC+ every Thursday. In the UK, the show will air on Alibi.

Ragdoll was Cole’s first novel and kicked off a series of mystery books that is referred to as the “Fawkes and Baxter series”, due to the names of the two lead investigators. So it’s odd that his character William Fawkes has been renamed Nathan Rose for this show. I guess on TV it will be the “Rose and Baxter series”.
