If you’re a fan of stop motion, then this is a good week indeed.

Yesterday the trailer for FRANKENWEENIE showed up, and today brings a brand new (“fresh” seems the wrong word in this context) poster and trailer for PARANORMAN, the next horror-fantasy film from Laika Entertainment (CORALINE).

If you like the look of that and want to see it in HD and all you can click over to Apple, while PARANORMAN’s fantastic first trailer can be seen right here.

Henry Selick, the director of CORALINE, left Laika Entertainment for Pixar in 2010  and thereby sadly has nothing to do with this project directly.  But if you look closely I’d say it’s pretty easy to see bits and pieces of his influence infecting PARANORMAN all over the place, and with co-direction coming from Chris Butler (storyboard artist on CORALINE) and Sam Fell (FLUSHED AWAY) it seems to be the case once again that the terribly talented people at Laika have crafted something very special.

With the voice talents of Kodie-Smit McPhee, Casey Affleck, John Goodman, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Anna Kendrick, Bernard Hill, and Leslie Mann, you can catch the whole undead tale in 3D this coming August 17th.

I know I will, and several times over too.

Plot recap: When a small town comes under siege by zombies, who can it call? Only misunderstood local boy Norman, who is able to speak with the dead. In addition to the zombies, he’ll have to take on ghosts, witches and, worst, of all, grown-ups, to save his town from a centuries-old curse. But this young ghoul whisperer may find his paranormal activities pushed to their otherworldly limits.
