Raising Dion, canceled, Netflix

Netflix has killed another one of its original series. It has been announced that the superhero drama, Raising Dion, will not be returning for a third season. Series star Sammi Haney, who played Esperanza in the series, revealed the news on Instagram and it was later confirmed by Netflix.

Taking to Instagram Haney wrote, “Sad to say that Raising Dion is CANCELED. Thank you for all of the amazing support we got from all of our wonderful fans! Season 2 was a success, equal to Season 1, even if just looking at how many people watched all of it and wanted a season 3!” You can check out Haney’s Instagram post below!

Raising Dion was based on the comic book by Dennis Liu and it followed Nicole (Alisha Wainwright) and her son Dion (Ja’Siah Young), who begins to manifest superhero-like abilities. The series also stars Jazmyn Simon, Ali Ahn, Gavin Munn, Aubriana Davis, Tracey Bonner, and Josh Ventura. The series also carried some name recognition because it was produced by actor Michael B. Jordan. Critics also enjoyed Raising Dion, gifting it with a solid 83% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
