Oh man, I’m loving the sound of this one…
Paco Plaza and Jaume Balaguero (above), the dudes behind the [REC] franchise, have just announced a new “infection” thriller they’re set to produce called SUMMER CAMP. Alberto Marini, who wrote Balaguero’s SLEEP TIGHT, is in line to direct the English language horror joint.
Here’s what Marini teased to Variety about the plot:
“There’s a game common to the majority of kids around the world, both in and out of summer camps: “Tag, you are it….The fun of the game is that the roles are constantly changing: The pursuer becomes the pursued, the cat becomes the mouse….We wanted to capture this idea in a horror-filled, adrenaline-pumped movie…. A film in which you’re never sure who your friends or who your enemies are, a game you’d never wish to be part of and where, sometimes, in order to escape the only option is to attack.”
Seriously, what’s not to love about the set up?
With a script co-penned with Marini by Danielle Schleif – SUMMER CAMP will enter production in mid-late 2013. Castelao Pictures and Rebelion Terrestre are producing.
