Sex Education production company Eleven are teaming up with brothers Michael and Paul Clarkson, who are sometimes credited as The Clarkson Twins and served as co-producers on The Haunting of Bly Manor, to bring us a new supernatural horror series called Red Rose. Red Rose will air on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer in the U.K. and on the Netflix streaming service in the rest of the world, and Variety got their hands on a batch of first look images from the show. You can check them out at the bottom of this article.

Consisting of eight episodes that were split between directors Ramon Salazar (Elite), Henry Blake (County Lines), and Lisa Siwe (The Bridge), Red Rose

explores the relationship between teenagers and their online lives. Set over a long hot summer following high school, the teens’ friendships are infiltrated by the Red Rose app, which blooms on their smartphones, threatening them with dangerous consequences if they don’t meet its demands. The app exposes the group to a seemingly supernatural entity and the seductive power of the dark web.

The series stars Amelia Clarkson (The Last Kingdom), Isis Hainsworth (Metal Lords), Ali Khan (The School for Good and Evil), Ellis Howard (Catherine the Great), Ashna Rabheru (Indian Summers), Adam Nagaitis (Chernobyl), Natalie Gavin (Gentleman Jack), Samuel Anderson (Doctor Who), and – in their television debuts – Harry Redding and Natalie Blair. Filming took place in Bolton, North West England.

The Clarkson Twins had this to say about their show:

We are thrilled with the talented cast that we’ve assembled in Red Rose. They have so brilliantly captured the spirit of the North with their nuanced, devastating and hilarious performances. We can’t wait for the rest of the world to fall in love with them, just as we have. They’re doing Bolton – and us – proud.”

A co-production between Eleven and Entertainment One, Red Rose was produced by Camilla Bray and executive produced by Joel Wilson, Carissa Hope Lynch, Jamie Campbell, Nawfal Faizullah, Mona Qureshi, and Polly Williams. Olivia Trench is co-executive producer.

I’ll probably give this show a look when it reaches Netflix. How does Red Rose sound to you? Let us know by leaving a comment below – and check out these images as you scroll down:
