Reggie Bannister, the beloved star of the Phantasm franchise, entered hospice care more than a year ago, but his health has recently declined. Now, Bannister and his family need our support. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help the horror icon cover medical expenses and other essential costs, ensuring he can continue to receive the care he needs.

“Alongside his devoted wife Gigi, Reggie spent many weekends traveling to comic and horror conventions, meeting fans, signing autographs, and sharing his passion for entertainment,” reads the campaign description. “These events were not only a source of joy, but also a vital part of their income. Unfortunately, Reggie’s health has taken a difficult turn. He is now facing the challenges of Lewy Body dementia and Parkinson’s disease, which have led to his move into in-home hospice care. As a result, Reggie and Gigi can no longer attend conventions, and their financial situation has become increasingly dire.“
The description continues: “Medical bills are mounting, and the cost of utilities and daily care is overwhelming. Gigi, who has promised to never leave Reggie’s side, is doing everything she can to care for him at home. However, she is now facing the very real fear of losing essential services, including the oxygen care that Reggie desperately needs.“
All the funds raised through the GoFundMe campaign will go directly towards covering Bannister’s care. “Your support will help ease the financial burden on Gigi and allow her to focus on what matters most—being there for Reggie during this incredibly difficult time.” The campaign has a goal of $9000, but has been rising quickly since launching just hours ago, so hopefully that goal will be exceeded.
As someone with personal experience in home care and end-of-life care (as I’m sure some of you do as well), I know all too well how overwhelming things can become. The costs can add up quickly, adding another layer of stress at a time when all you really want is to make sure your loved one is comfortable and cared for.

Along with Angus Scrimm, who played The Tall Man, Reggie Bannister is the only actor to appear in every Phantasm movie, from the original 1979 film through to Phantasm: Ravager in 2016.
