There are some flicks made in the late 70s, early 80s that I wouldn’t mind seeing remade for today’s audiences, with today’s technological advances (well, at least I’m sure there are some, though I can’t think of any off the top of my head…). One flick that sure as shit isn’t on that list is CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, as not only is it uber f*cked up, but it’s the low budget, documentary feel to it which makes it so damn hardcore. So, of course, that means it’s up for a remake.
According to Variety, Relevant Entertainment has just snagged the rights to remake HOLOCAUST, with Michael Menchel and Steve Whitney to produce. No word on how ‘big’ this remake will be, but Whitney was also a producer on THE AMITYVILLE HORROR REMAKE, so this likely won’t be no STD indie project.
Saying that this is a stupid idea would be just as stupid, as that’s as flippin’ obvious as an elephant taking a dump. And actually, I’m a little loss for words. So I’ll just leave it at this: CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST is set to start filming this summer, so stick around for casting updates as we hear them!
