Writer/director Taylor Sheridan’s WIND RIVER isn’t a film we’ve talked a lot about, but with its limited theatrical release coming up in less than a month, on August 4th, this seems like a good time to direct some attention its way.

You may not know Sheridan’s name, but you might know a couple films he has earned some accolades for – he wrote the screenplays for Denis Villeneuve’s SICARIO and David Mackenzie’s HELL OR HIGH WATER. With WIND RIVER, Sheridan takes the helm to bring his own script to the screen, telling the following story:

A rookie FBI agent teams up with a local game tracker with deep community ties and a haunted past to investigate the murder of a local girl on a remote Native American Reservation in the hopes of solving her mysterious death.

Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen star and are joined in the cast by Gil Birmingham, Jon Bernthal, Julia Jones, Kelsey Asbille, and James Jordan.

Our own Chris Bumbray caught a screening of WIND RIVER at Sundance and gave it a 9/10 review. Jake Dee put the film in the #1 slot on his “Top 10 Genre Flicks to See in Summer 2017” list. After watching the trailer below, I am convinced this is a film that's going to be worth checking out; it looks like it’s going to be one hell of a thriller. I had just been thinking of it as "that other movie starring two of the Avengers", but it seems to be much more than that.

WIND RIVER is being released by The Weinstein Company. The theatre count is expected to expand on August 11th.
