Grab your snow boots and make a short list of trustworthy people because Castle Rock Entertainment is returning to Wind River for Wind River: The Next Chapter. Production is kicking off in January, with Martin Sensmeiser reprising the role of Chip Hanson from the original 2017 film. Kari Skogland (The Falcon and the Winter SoliderThe Handmaid’s Tale) directs from a script written by Patrick Massett and John Zinman.

Taylor Sheridan directed and wrote the original Wind River, focusing on a veteran hunter who helps an FBI agent investigate the murder of a young woman on a Wyoming Native American reservation. Starring Jeremy Renner (Mayor of KingstownHawkeye), Elizabeth Olsen (WandaVisionIngrid Goes West), Graham Greene (The Green MileDances With Wolves), and Sensmeiser, Wind River invites audiences into a bone-chilling mystery against a picturesque yet dangerous backdrop.

In Wind River: The Next Chapter, terror comes to the Wind River reservation as a series of ritualistic murders go unsolved. Desperate to solve the case, the FBI turns to Wind River local Chip Hanson (Sensmeiser), a newly-minted tracker for the U.S. Fish & Game, who becomes wrapped up in a frantic and vicious battle between the cops, a vigilante, and the Reservation he helps protect.

Matthew George is producing Wind River: The Next Chapter for Castle Rock Entertainment and Acacia Filmed Entertainment alongside Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee through Thunder Road Pictures. Castle Rock’s Rob Reiner will executive produce with Michele Reiner, Derrick Rossi, Jonathan Fuhrman, Courtney Shepard, and Hernan Narea.

With an extensive list of credits to her good name, Skogland is an outstanding choice to helm this unexpected sequel. Her latest work includes directing The Falcon and the Winter Soldier for Marvel, which was equal parts action and emotion on a grand scale.
