Reverse wolfman

For all those who thought that every creative aspect of the standard werewolf movie had been done to death, fear not! For director Brian Scott O’Malley is still squeezing out some fresh crimson juice with his latest lycanthropic epic AUDIE & THE WOLF. How’s this for a different spin on the hairy subject: What if a wolf turned into a man? What a fine idea! I can’t believe this hasn’t been thought of before. Credit Mr. O’Malley for thinking clear and cool. Here’s what he had to say regarding AUDIE:

“What would he(the now human wolf) think about? What would he do? Would he fall in love? Would he know how to use the telephone, or read? The film doesn’t really take itself seriously, but at the same time it has a great love story at the core, surrounded by all this horror and murder.

Damn, that really is one fascinating concept. It kind of reminds me of EDWARD SCISSORHANDS. And the pics that Fango scored above and below rule! Would that be the gorgeous Christa Campbell sitting in her undies on a bed? Yes sir! Which brings up AUDIE & THE WOLF’s pretty sweet cast. In addition to Campbell, you’ve got Tara Price in the title role, Derek Hughes (above) as the wolf, Rance Howard (TOOLBOX MURDERS), and Richard Riehle (HATCHET).

Here’s the full synopsis: When the moon is full, a friendly WOLF turns into a savage, bloodthirsty MAN and goes on a kill spree in a starlet’s Hollywood mansion. AUDIE AND THE WOLF is a comedy/horror feature in the spirit of SHAUN OF THE DEAD, AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, and EVIL DEAD 2 and bares its fangs for a topsy-turvy take on the classic werewolf legend.

John Doe is a man who doesn’t know where he came from, who can’t control his insatiable hunger for raw meat, much to the dismay of everyone who rings the doorbell. That is, until he meets the smart-ass grocery delivery girl Audie Bantam, who falls head over heels in love with him and fights to convince him he’s not a werewolf. Indeed.

AUDIE’s & THE WOLF’s world-premiere screening will take place Thursday, August 14 at the Los Angeles Theater in LA as part of the 2008 Downtown Film Festival. You can check out the flick’s official website here for more info as well as its trailer.
