We’re just a month away from the release of Rick and Morty season 6, and Adult Swim has released the first trailer for the acclaimed animated series.

The Rick and Morty season 6 trailer is jam-packed with sci-fi weapons (like Summer’s Wolverine claws), call-outs to Die Hard, a befuddled and helpless Jerry, and so much more. There’s also the return of the Roy video game, where players take control of a regular guy and play through their entire life. I can’t wait to see what else the new season has in store. “It’s hard to overstate the impact of Rick and Morty,” said Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim and Cartoon Network. “More than a hit show, it is truly a global phenomenon. As we prepare to launch this soon-to-be iconic season, we will be giving fans a unique way to be part of the fun – so keep your eyes peeled.

Featuring the voices of Justin Roiland, Sarah Chalke, Chris Parnell, and Spencer Grammer, Rick and Morty follows “a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his inherently timid grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe. Rick Sanchez is living with his daughter Beth’s family and constantly bringing her, his son-in-law Jerry, granddaughter Summer, and grandson Morty into intergalactic escapades.” The series received an unprecedented 70-episode renewal back in 2018, and Adult Swim also ordered a ten-episode anime series earlier this year. Takashi Sana will develop the series, which will adapt the themes and events of the main series but will stand on its own. “The multiverse-straddling exploits of Rick and the gang pose challenges to the family bond, but they always rise to the occasion,” Sano said. “It’s such a life-affirming sight, and Jerry is no exception I am honored to have been given an opportunity to tell a new story about this amazing family. I hope you enjoy their adventures!

Rick and Morty season 6 will release on Adult Swim on September 4th at 11 pm ET/PT. What did you think of the Rick and Morty season 6 trailer?
