Rick and Morty Season 7: New art for the upcoming season debuts before Monday’s new trailer

Adult Swim’s new art for Rick and Morty Season 7 finds the mad genius and his nervous companion covered in spaghetti sauce!

Wubba Lubba Dub Dub! Rick and Morty returns to Adult Swim on October 15, so it’s time to set the hype machine to overdrive and watch the promotional materials pour in! New art for Rick and Morty Season 7 is making the rounds today, with an image of the adult animated series’ lead characters hugging it out while covered in tomato sauce (below). The promo brings Only Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs vibes to the long-running animation, which undergoes a few changes in the new season.

In Rick and Morty, a sociopathic genius scientist drags his inherently timid grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe. The new season will debut in over 134 countries in 38 languages. In the U.S., new episodes will be available for purchase from digital retailers the day after they premiere on Adult Swim. The new season will also be available to stream in 2024.

“It’s happening,” confirmed Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim. “Thanks to the talent of the entire show team, we can all enjoy 10 new episodes that yet again raise the bar for comedy and animation. This season proves that the geniuses at work on Rick and Morty are just getting started.”

Rick and Morty Season 7 is the show’s first season without Roiland, who in January was charged with felony domestic abuse in Orange County, California. The incident resulted in Roiland getting ousted from his overall deal. Shortly after the initial charges, news of Roiland allegedly sending disturbing direct messages to a fan began making the rounds. Additionally, previous problematic interview comments and allegations of workplace behavior issues resurfaced, making matters worse. However, the criminal charges were dropped in March, but not before damage was done.

The official description for Rick and Morty Season 7 reads:

Rick and Morty are back and sounding more like themselves than ever! It’s season seven, and the possibilities are endless: what’s up with Jerry? EVIL Summer?! And will they ever go back to the high school?! Maybe not! But let’s find out! There’s probably less piss than last season. Rick and Morty, 100 years! Or at least until season 10!”

Adult Swim says it’s dedicated to finding new “sound alike” voices to replace Roiland, with characters from the show remaining unchanged. Do you think Monday’s trailer features the new voices for Rick and Morty? It has to, right? Unless Adult Swim trolls everyone by unveiling a silent trailer for the new season. I doubt that will happen, and even as someone who’s never seen a single frame of Rick and Morty, I’m excited to hear the new voices. We’ll bring you the trailer when it drops online early next week. Let us know what you think of the Rick and Morty Season 7 art in the comments below.
