Rick Yancey’s Monstrumologist to be adapted by Warner Bros.

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Rick Yancey’s young-adult horror series MONSTRUMOLOGIST is making its way to the silver screen as Variety reports that Warner Bros. has picked up movie rights to the four-book series. Jessica Postigo, who’s credits include MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: THE CITY OF BONES, has been hired to adapt the script. We've certainly seen plenty YA adaptations over the years, but it's nice to finally get one of the horror variety for once!

The first book is set in 1888 which is always a great setting for a monster movie. Here's what it's about:

The young-adult horror story centers on Dr. Pellinore Warthrop and his assistant Will Henry. Will is an orphan under the care of Dr. Warthrop, who studies dangerous creatures and monsters. The story is set in 1888, launching with a nightmarish specimen carted to the monstrumologist’s home — an anthropuphagi, a vicious man-eating creature without a head.

THE MONSTRUMOLOGIST launched in 2009 followed by THE CURSE OF THE WENDIGO (2010), THE ISLE OF BLOOD (2011) and THE FINAL DESCENT (2013).
