Sometimes a cast is put together that just makes you excited to for the project, regardless of the subject manner. It could be about ponies that can fly, and with a kick ass cast, you’d actually want to check it out. So it’s even better when the actual concept for the movie sounds cool, the cast rocks and the filmmaker behind it is a God.

What the shit am I talking about here, then? SWEENEY TODD, of course! Directed by Tim Burton, and starring Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and Sacha Baron Cohen (BORAT), the film is based on the musical of the same name. And today, The Hollywood Reporter is saying that the cast just got cooler, as Alan Rickman (DIE HARD) just jumped on board! I frickin’ love that guy!

Rickman is set to play Judge Turpin in the flick, which is about a man unjustly thrown in jail, only to come back as a barber with revenge on his mind (not to mention murder and cannibalism). Couldn’t be happier with the casting here, as Rickman always does a good job at being bad- he’s so bad that you just hate him… and that’s a good thing!

The powerhouse that is SWEENEY TODD is scheduled to start filming in London next month, and will likely be ready to hit the big screen sometime next year.
