Ricky Gervais reprises his Office persona in new Life on the Road trailer

Ricky Gervais has been promoting his new movie, DAVID BRENT: LIFE ON THE ROAD, for some time now, and the mass audience will finally get to see it on February 10 when it debuts on Netflix. Many people might not know the name of Brent when they hear it, but the character was made famous in the BBC series, THE OFFICE. The character was renamed Michael Scott (Steve Carell) for the U.S. version, and the rest is history. Now Brent is back and up to plenty of shenanigans driven by an abundant and hilarious lack of self-awareness.

That was a lot of writing just to say watch this trailer below. Watch this trailer. See how easy that was?

The synopsis for the movie is as follows:

DAVID BRENT: LIFE ON THE ROAD sees the highly anticipated big screen debut of one of comedy’s best-loved characters, David Brent (Ricky Gervais). The film catches up with Brent twelve years on from the BBC mockumentary ‘The Office’ to find he is now a travelling salesman with Lavichem, a cleaning and ladies’ personal hygiene products company. However, he hasn’t given up on his dream of rock stardom and is about to embark on a self-financed UK tour with his band, ‘Foregone Conclusion’.

Assembling a group of session musicians who are just in it for the money, and talented rapper Dom (Ben Bailey Smith) in an attempt to gain street cred, Brent cashes in his pensions and takes unpaid leave in a bid to turn his dream into reality. Get ready to join David Brent on the road as he takes one last shot at fame and fortune.

The movie was released in the UK in August of last year, but we here in the good ol’ US of will get to see what’s up soon enough. I’m a big fan of Gervais, and though I hated his last Netflix outing (SPECIAL CORRESPONDENTS with Eric Bana) I have much higher hopes for this. The trailer left me smiling and excited, and who doesn't love David Brent?. That's all gotta count for something, right?
