Riddick director David Twohy set to helm sci-fi thriller Replay

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Looks like David Twohy isn't leaving the sci-fi realm anytime soon…

According to Deadline, Twohy (seen above) has been hired by Relativity to direct the time-traveling sci-fi thriller REPLAY. The script, which was snatched up by the studio in July, was written by Joe Gazzam. Let us know what you think of the synopsis below.

REPLAY tracks Tyler Vaughn, a test subject in a quantum experiment who’s sent four days into the future, only to discover his son has been killed and he’s been fingered for the murder. When the day ends, he’s pulled back one day prior and realizes he must solve the mystery of his son’s death as he jumps backward, one day at a time, to stop it from happening on the day of the initial experiment.

Hmmm…kind of like SOURCE CODE meets LOOPER meets EDGE OF TOMORROW. Not terribly original on the page, but given Twohy's track record, REPLAY will surely have its merits. Remember, Twohy has directed PITCH BLACK, THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK, BELOW and RIDDICK…all of which seem suitable for REPLAY's subject matter.

REPLAY looks to start production in early 2015. Stay posted for more…
