Some of Hollywood's fiercest leading ladies are set to take charge on Apple TV+ by starring in the female-focused anthology series Roar. The project hails from GLOW creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch as a part of their overall deal with the streaming platform. Sharpening their claws as the stars of Roar are Nicole Kidman, Cynthia Erivo, Merritt Wever, and Alison Brie. The series, which has been in the works since 2018, is based on Cecilia Ahern’s book of short stories. Roar presents eight, half-hour episodes, each told from a female point of view. The book itself consists of 30 short stories, with each tale revolving around "a woman exploring a different absurd contradiction or issue in her life."

In addition to creating the series, Flahive and Mensch will showrun as well as serve as executive producers alongside Kidman and Per Saari via Blossom Films, Bruna Papandrea, Steve Hutensky, and Allie Goss via Made Up Stories, Ahern, and Theresa Park. Endeavor Content will also produce.

Before it was canceled near the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, Flahive and Mensch’s wrestling comedy GLOW was preparing to hit the mats for a fourth season. However, Netflix reversed their decision to continue the show, leaving fans of the series, as well as cast and crew, in the lurch. Whether GLOW will ever receive a proper ending remains to be seen, but for now, it looks as if Flahive and Mensch have moved on to other endeavors.
