Yesterday, we learned that Rob Zombie won't begin editing his new film 3 FROM HELL, a sequel to HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES and THE DEVIL'S REJECTS, until September, meaning we'll have to wait until at least early 2019 to see the finished product. Soon after we shared that news, Zombie took to his Instagram account to share a couple images from the movie – which could either make the wait easier or harder to endure, depending on how you take them.
These images not only give us a look at how Bill Moseley and Sheri Moon Zombie appear in the film as their returning characters Otis and Baby, they and the captions Zombie included also hint at how these characters can possibly be back for a sequel when they were shot to death at the end of THE DEVIL'S REJECTS. Looks like the answer is… they just survived all those gunshot wounds and got hauled off to jail.
Otis is said to be "addressing the media after a long day in court" in the image of him, while Baby is seen being "escorted from court and back to prison".
Zombie has previously shared video of prison cells, a look at actress Dee Wallace wearing a prison guard uniform, and a shot of a prisoner transfer van, so it really seems like Otis, Baby, and presumably their cohort Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig) have spent the last however-many-years sitting in prison cells instead of being dead like we all thought they were.
I like what we're seeing here, as I would much rather the film just shrug and say "Yeah, they survived that" than have some kind of supernatural explanation for their resurrection.
Moseley, Moon Zombie, Haig, and Wallace are joined in the cast of 3 FROM HELL by Richard Brake, Austin Stoker, Emilio Rivera, Jeff Daniel Phillips, David Ury, Tom Papa, Dot-Marie Jones, Pancho Moler, Richard Edson, Richard Riehle, Kevin Jackson, Billy Blair, Steven Michael Quezada, Bill Oberst Jr., Sylvia Jefferies, Sean Whalen, and Clint Howard (as a clown called Mr. Baggy Britches), with Danny Trejo and Daniel Roebuck reprising the roles they played in THE DEVIL'S REJECTS.
