Robert De Niro developing and possibly starring in a film on Bernie Madoff

JoBloJoBlo

I’m sure you’ve heard more than your fair share about Bernie Madoff. But who has decided to develop a film about the guy? None other than Robert De Niro.

HBO picked up the rights on Diane Henrique’s non-fiction book, “The Wizard of Lies: Bernie Madoff and the Death of Trust” which hit bookshelves last month. The book details, “the financial wunderkind who bilked millions from unsuspecting investors.” De Niro his Tribeca Productions partner Jane Rosethal will produce the film with the actor possibly starring as well.

Madoff is currently serving time, a 150 year sentence to be exact, due to his $65 billion Ponzi scheme. The man basically stole money out of people’s accounts and lived it up in the lap of luxury.

This seems like a great role for De Niro and another home run for HBO.
