Lonnie Elam, the little bully who made Tommy Doyle smash his pumpkin in the original HALLOWEEN and later got scared away from the Myers house by Dr. Loomis (who seemed very happy to have the chance to scare the hell out of a little kid), was referenced in director David Gordon Green's HALLOWEEN 2018 because he was the father of the character Cameron (Dylan Arnold). Cameron is likely to appear in one or both of the back-to-back sequels Green is currently working on, HALLOWEEN KILLS and HALLOWEEN ENDS, but while his presence hasn't been officially confirmed we do know that his father is going to be in HALLOWEEN KILLS.
Our friends at Bloody-Disgusting have learned that actor Robert Longstreet has signed on to play Lonnie Elam in HALLOWEEN KILLS, bringing Lonnie back to the franchise after more than forty years. Longstreet is a prolific character actor whose credits include Mike Flanagan's The Haunting of Hill House Netflix series and the upcoming Stephen King adaptation DOCTOR SLEEP. Green previously directed him in PINEAPPLE EXPRESS and the 2004 film UNDERTOW.
In the original HALLOWEEN, Lonnie was played by Mickey Yablans, the son of producer Irwin Yablans. Mickey Yablans hasn't done much acting since 1978, but did make a brief appearance in A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 4: THE DREAM MASTER.
Longstreet's HALLOWEEN KILLS co-stars include Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, Judy Greer as Laurie's daughter Karen, Andi Matichak as Laurie's granddaughter Allyson, Jibrail Nantambu as young Haddonfield resident Julian, Anthony Michael Hall as Tommy Doyle, Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace, and original Michael Myers performer Nick Castle, possibly making another masked cameo like he did in HALLOWEEN 2018. Charles Cyphers is rumored to be reprising the role of Brackett.
HALLOWEEN KILLS begins filming in Wilmington, North Carolina this month. Green wrote the screenplay with Danny McBride and Scott Teems. The film is scheduled for an October 16, 2020 release.
Once KILLS wraps, there will be a "short breather" before production begins on HALLOWEEN ENDS. Written by Green, McBride, Paul Brad Logan, and Chris Bernier, that film will reach theatres on October 15, 2021.
Malek Akkad is producing these films with Jason Blum and Bill Block. Green, McBride, and Curtis serve as executive producers alongside John Carpenter and Couper Samuelson. Carpenter will also be composing the score.
