Rock, Paper, and Scissors: children’s game is turned into trippy horror film

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

A new, trippy trailer for the dark, horror comedy Rock, Paper, and Scissors – yes, (loosely) based on the old children's game – has just been released, and you can watch it at the top of the article! The film is described as "a dark thriller with elements of comedy and oozing style, the Argentinean horror film tells of siblings who have embark on a ‘bloody’ feud over an inheritance", which debuted at Fantastic Fest and went on to win worldwide acclaim at FrightFest, Brooklyn Horror FF, Fantaspoa and more. THN called it “a spin on Misery…a solid chamber piece chiller”, and The Blue Lenses say it’s “Masterfully directed, perfectly cast and immaculately paced”.

Here's the official synopsis:

Jesus and Jose Maria are siblings living in a closed-off world constructed of strange games and relentless madness. When their half-sister Magdalena returns home to inquire about her share of their inheritance, a strange and bloody affair ensues.

Honestly, looks fun to me! I think some of the best horror – especially recently (such as Ready or Not, Get Out, and You're Next) – benefits from dealing with the anxieties and human fallability that come with the inherent tensions of class stratification and inequality. Hopefully this one turns out good!

Meanwhile, Rock, Paper, and Scissors – directed by Martín Blousson and Macarena García Lenzi and starring Agustina Cerviño, Valeria Giorcelli, Pablo Sigal – will be available July 6th for a digital and On Demand release!

So what do you guys think? And what children's game would make a great horror story? Was gonna say "Ring Around the Rosie", but is that too on the nose? Either way, sound off below!
