After LAND OF THE DEAD, I’ve been waiting for director George A. Romero’s next project- whatever it may be. Sure, it might have been your run-of-the-mill zombie flick, but it had style most others don’t possess, and… it’s f*cking Romero, baby! Lucky for us all, his project was announced today, and it’s sounding pretty sweet.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Romero has signed on to write & direct SOLITARY ISLE, based on a short story by Koji Suzuki (who also wrote THE RING), which chronicles an expedition to a deserted island that turns deadly as the explorers face an unknown force. Could be very cool, and it smells like a monster movie, which would be awesome!
No telling when production is set to begin, or if there’s any big names (actor wise) attached to the project yet, but with Romero at the helm, I can only imagine the amount of interest this proejct will spark.
Stick around as we hear more about SOLITARY ISLE, as anything touched by Romero is pure gold in my book, and this flick sounds like it’ll be no different. Bring on the Romero, baby!
