Ron Howard is going to dive in the horror genre with The Graveyard Book

The infamous Ron Howard (COCOON) will direct the film adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s THE GRAVEYARD BOOK, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie has been in limbo since it was announced back in 2008 but now the project is moving faster than a venereal disease!

The book is inspired by Rudyard Kipling’s THE JUNGLE BOOK and it tells the story of “an unusual boy who inhabits an unusual place. He’s the only living resident of a graveyard. Raised by ghosts, werewolves and other ghouls, Bod has learned really cool stuff from his guardians like the ability to fade. Can a boy raised by ghosts face the wonders and terrors of the worlds of both the living and the dead?”. Sounds interesting doesn’t it?

This is not the first time Gaiman’s work has stepped into the celluloid world, Matthew Vaughn’s STARDUST (2007) and Henry Selick’s CORALINE (2008) were based on other books he wrote, actually GRAVEYARD was planned as a stop motion project for Walt Disney Pictures, kudos to the Devil that it’s now headed in the right direction as a live action film.

Howard will release his Formula 1 racing movie, RUSH, on September 20th and he’s also producing a documentary called JAY-Z: MADE IN AMERICA about the famous rapper Jay-Z.
